The width of the lake is 5 m and its length is 134 km, and it stretches from India to Tibet. It is estimated that about 60 percent of this lake is the Tibetan country. An interesting fact about this lake is that during winter it completely freezes although the water here is saline. This picturesque lake comes under the Ramsar Convention and has been identified as a wetland of international value. It is located at a distance of 150 km from Leh and is generally included in a Leh Ladakh tour  for tourists to come here and experience its serenity.
