Jaisalmer Fort

 Known as Sonar Quila, this huge fort stands at a height of 250 feet on a sandstone ridge, which is formed by merging of three hills. This fort was built by Bhatti Rajput Rao Jaisal in 1156 and is one of the oldest forts in Rajasthan. Local yellow sandstone was used to construct this mega structure and therefore, the fort is also referred to as – The Golden Fort. A total of 99 bastions are there in this fort, 92 of which were constructed between 1633 and 1647.
